Mer-Line stations
Introduction
- Traffi... krab?: Aha, <player>! And <current partner>! I've been waiting for you.
- If current partner is Kayleigh:
- Kayleigh: Did... Did that Traffikrab just speak?
- If current partner is Eugene:
- Eugene: I don't fear you Traffikrab! I've fought many of your kind before!
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: Huh? A talking Traffikrab?
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: Wait, Traffikrabs can talk?
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: This Traffikrab speaks? What manner of...
- If current partner is Barkley:
- Barkley: Arf!
- Traffi... krab?: Please, do not liken me to the mindless Traffikrabs out there.
- Magikrab: I am Magikrab, indentured servant to the infinite Mer-Line: long may Their trains run on time!
- Magikrab: To dwell amongst Their hallowed halls is a privilege too grand for me to convey. To serve Their passengers is the least I can do.
- Magikrab: Which is to say: you tell me where you need to go, and I'll get the train at Platform A ready.
- Magikrab: Many of the Mer-Line's stops are currently inaccessible. They will become available once their stations reopen.
Unlocking a Mer-Line Station
- If the the player has unlocked at least one Mer-Line station:
- Magikrab: Welcome! I've taken the liberty of opening Platform A for you for travel.
- If the current station is Night's Bridge Station:
- Magikrab: You've finally arrived! Welcome to Night’s Bridge Station.
- Magikrab: The train arriving at Platform B is due to depart for other realities soon!
- Magikrab: You should make sure you catch it in time!
Passive Dialogue
(When the player arrives at Mournington Crescent Station)
- Magikrab: Welcome to Mournington Crescent... What’s left of it, anyway!
(When the player arrives at other Mer-Line stations)
- Magikrab: Welcome to <name of the current Mer-Line station>!
Dialogue Menu
- Magikrab: Now, what can I do for you <player>?
"I want to travel."
- If chosen "I want to travel.":
- Magikrab: Where do you want to go?
- (Choice between Gramophone Café, the unlocked Mer-Line stations and Brightside Pier if unlocked)
- Magikrab: The train at Platform A is ready for departure, <player>.
- Magikrab: Mind the gap!
"I want to leave New Wirral."
- If chosen "I want to leave New Wirral.":
- If the player is in Night's Bridge Station:
- Magikrab: Well, you’re in the right place! Please proceed to Platform B.
- If the player is in any other Mer-Line station and has not unlocked Night's Bridge Station:
- Magikrab: Well, Platform B is what we use for interdimensional travel...
- Magikrab: However all departures through Platform B have been canceled for the next 642 years.
- Magikrab: The Mer-Line... tells me it's something about a psychic contagion. Or possibly a war?
- Magikrab: I'm pleased to inform you that arrivals at Platform B are running on time though!
- If the player is in any other Mer-Line station and has unlocked Night's Bridge Station:
- Magikrab: The train at Platform A is ready for departure, <player>.
- Magikrab: Mind the gap!
"Platform B?"
- If chosen "Platform B?":
- If the player is in Glowcester Road Station and has not defeated Poppetox:
- Magikrab: We have an arrival due at Platform B any minute now!
- Magikrab: The guest arriving at Platform B thinks it is whispering, but its words pierce so loudly. Use your eyes, not your ears, human.
- If the player is in Mournington Crescent Station and has not defeated Mourningstar:
- Magikrab: Welcome to Mournington Crescent... What’s left of it, anyway!
- Magikrab: Platform B is... elsewhere. This station was destroyed by a landslide some time ago. But I believe there is an arrival due anytime now.
- Magikrab: The guest arriving at Platform B is known to be quite judgemental, I must say.
- If the player is in Falldown Mall and has not defeated Nowhere Monarch:
- Magikrab: We have an arrival due at Platform B soon.
- Magikrab: The guest arriving at Platform B seeks those with an emptiness inside. It may not show itself to you until you understand and experience that.
- If the player is in Waterloop Station and has not defeated Heckahedron:
- Magikrab: The guest arriving at Platform B has many sharp edges. My advice would be to keep your distance.
- If the player is in Cherry Cross Station and has not defeated Alice:
- Magikrab: This station’s resident is due to return via Platform B any minute now!
- Magikrab: I made sure to let her know you’d be coming. It seems she has a celebration in mind for you!
- Magikrab: But quite how she expects you to fit through the platform gate, I’m not sure.
- Magikrab: It seems she thought you would be... shorter.
- If the player is in Bard Street Station and has not defeated Robin Goodfellow:
- Magikrab: We had an arrival at Platform B a short while ago.
- Magikrab: The guest that arrived seems to have an interest in the theatrical. Did you get to meet him on the way in?
- If the player is in Aldgrave Tomb Station and has not defeated Lamento Mori:
- Magikrab: We have an arrival due at Platform B any minute now!
- Magikrab: The guest arriving at Platform B transcends such concepts as mortality. Be mindful that not all such creatures will 'go away' upon death.
- If the player is in Icelington Station and has not defeated Babelith:
- Magikrab: We have an arrival due at Platform B any minute now!
- Magikrab: The guest arriving at Platform B peddles many lies. Be wary of accepting anything as 'truth' lest you become lost to yourself.
- If the player is in Night's Bridge Station and has not defeated Aleph Null:
- Magikrab: The train at Platform B will be departing soon.
- Magikrab: That’s right! There’s an active gateway in this station!
- Magikrab: You’re almost home, <player>!
- If the player is in Night's Bridge Station and has defeated Aleph Null:
- Magikrab: The gateway on Platform B is ready for you.
- If the player has defeated the Archangel of the current Mer-Line station:
- Magikrab: The next arrival at Platform B isn’t expected for quite some time.
- Magikrab: You're quite welcome to enter the platform, but as a mortal, flesh-based entity, you may not find it of much use.
- If the player is in Harbourtown Station after defeating Aleph Null and all other main story Archangels:
- Magikrab: I see that Morgante has returned. She appears to be waiting for you on Platform B.
- Magikrab: <player>...
- Magikrab: If there's anything I've learned from dealing with the egregores you call ‘Archangels’...
- Magikrab: Don't assume your companionship to them will last a moment longer than your usefulness.
- Magikrab: We're like bugs to them. Or crabs.
- Magikrab: Even now, the Mer-Line keeps me from giving you full access to Their rail network.
- Magikrab: ‘Archangels’ always have an ulterior motive at work. Be mindful.
"The Mer-Line?"
- If chosen "The Mer-Line?":
- Magikrab: That’s right! The Mer-Line is an underground network of railway stations all across New Wirral, and some distance beyond!
- Magikrab: The Mer-Line does not speak to mortals. They have chosen me to act as a go-between, to interface with you!
"Magikrab?"
- If chosen "Magikrab?":
- Magikrab: Indeed! I am Magikrab, indentured servant to the incomparable Mer-Line, in whose halls you now stand.
- Magikrab: Like you, I'm not native to New Wirral. However, there have been many here who have known me.
- Magikrab: The Mer-Line has assigned me to act as your guide to Their railway network.
"Nothing."
- If chosen "Nothing.":
- Magikrab: Very well!
Here Comes The Sun
Before The Player Meets The Mer-Line
- If the player is not in Harbourtown Station:
- Magikrab: <player>, the Mer-Line is waiting for you. Please come with me to Platform A of Harbourtown Station.
- If the player is in Harbourtown Station:
- Magikrab: <player>, the Mer-Line is waiting for you. Please come with me to Platform A.
- Magikrab: The Mer-Line will now speak through me.
- Magikrab: Count yourself very fortunate, <player>! They don’t descend to this plane oft–
After The Player Meets The Mer-Line
- Magikrab: Oh. <player>.
- Magikrab: Uh, what were we doing? The last few minutes seem to have slipped my mind.
("The Mer-Line was talking through you.")
- Magikrab: Count yourself very fortunate, <player>! They don’t descend to this plane often!
Magikrab’s Gauntlet
Magikrab’s Gauntlet Introduction at Night's Bridge Station
- Magikrab: Ah. <player> - just the human I was hoping to see! I have… an opportunity for you!
- Magikrab: You see, the Mer-Line does not exist solely under this island. Their trains pass through the many as-yet unactualised potential worlds as they journey endlessly through the Connected Human Cosmos!
- Magikrab: Of course, these potential worlds are populated by their own potential beings, and some try to hitch a ride aboard Their trains!
- Magikrab: Despite such beings’ appearances as familiar-looking humans and monsters, they are not like anything you’ve met so far. As they exist only in potential, they lack any true claim to reality or canon.
- Magikrab: However, just as one’s potential may exceed one’s capability, these potential beings often far exceed the power of the real individuals that you have met.
- Magikrab: Whilst this is of no concern to the magnificent Mer-Line, it is rather inconvenient to me, as I would prefer to commute in peace.
- Magikrab: My crystal eye tells me that the rangers are looking for more ""Fused Material"". Is this the case?
- Magikrab: I shall make you a deal then: if you can clear out just a few train carriages of these aggravating potential beings, I will trade you some “Fused Material”. Do we have a deal?
(Choice between "Sure!" and "I guess so…?")
- Magikrab: Excellent! If it helps, why not consider it special training? We’ll make it fun!
Entering Magikrab’s Gauntlet
- If the player chooses to enter the Gauntlet::
- Magikrab: All aboard!
