Ability

From Cassette Beasts

Abilities are movement capabilities that the player obtains by recording specific monsters.

List of abilities

Mothwing Glide

Player gliding using Mothwing Glide

Mothwing Glide allows the player to glide across long distances.

It can be obtained by recording a Dominoth.

Bulletino Dash

Player dashing using Bulletino Dash

Bulletino Dash allows the player to dash. Using this ability drains the player's stamina bar and they can continue dashing as long as their stamina bar is not empty. The player can use this ability to smash through cube-shaped cracked rocks or push past blowing winds.

It can be obtained by recording a Bulletino.

Electromagnetism

Player pulling a magnetic block to themself by using Electromagnetism

Electromagnetism allows the player to attract magnetic blocks to the player, pull the player towards magnetic objects, and allow the player to levitate on magnetic tiles.

It can be obtained by recording a Boltam or Plasmantler.

Diveal Swim

Player swimming using Diveal Swim

Diveal Swim allows the player to swim through water. Using this ability drains the player's stamina bar, and if the player's stamina bar depletes while using it they will be returned to the last solid ground they touched.

It can be obtained by recording a Diveal or Scubalrus.

Pumpkin Vine Ball

Player climbing up a wall using Pumpkin Vine Ball

Pumpkin Vine Ball allows the player to form a spiked ball of vines around themselves which they can use to climb up or across walls. The player can only go a limited distance up a wall with this ability, but this distance is based on the player's height when the ability was used. This means that jumping before using the Pumpkin Vine Ball will allow the player to reach a greater height compared to using it while on the ground.

It can be obtained by recording a Jumpkin, Beanstalker, or Draculeaf.

Averevoir Flight

Player flying using Averevoir Flight

Averevoir Flight allows the player to use wings to boost their altitude while gliding.

It can be obtained by recording an Averevoir.

Randomise Monsters

In a Custom Game with "Randomise Monsters" enabled, which monsters give which abilities is not randomized.

However, Wilma will sell a tape for most abilities which will give the player a monster that unlocks that ability.[1] This makes obtaining abilities more reliable in case an unlucky seed has resulted in ability monsters only appearing in hard to reach areas.

Even if the player can record ability-granting monsters very early on in the game, their abilities are not given until after defeating Morgante and completing the quest This Is The World We Live In.

The only abilities that Wilma does not sell tapes for are Mothwing Glide and Averevoir Flight.

Trivia

Mothwing Glide can only be acquired from the forced Dominoth encounter in the quest This Is The World We Live In; trying to record a Dominoth elsewhere will not grant this ability.
