These are Sunny's dialogues.
How Does It Feel
Intro, Gramophone Café
(A slumped, depressed-looking Landkeeper stumbles through the café doors. Kayleigh and Eugene stand at attention.)
- Disheveled Landkeeper: Uuuuuuuuuuh...
- Eugene: LANDKEEPER! Let me guess, you're crawling back for revenge after we brought down your whole operation, huh?!
- Disheveled Landkeeper: Buuuuuuuuuh...
- Kayleigh: Eugene, I think there's something wrong with her. I think she's, uh, broken.
- Disheveled Landkeeper: Whuuhhhh...?
- Eugene: I... I think you might be right.
- Kayleigh: Sorry about the hostile reception. Why don't you take a seat and we can get to know each other?
(The Landkeeper sits with the player at the café's resting spot while Kayleigh and Eugene look on.)
- Kayleigh: So, uh, are you feeling OK? Can you tell us about yourself?
- Disheveled Landkeeper: Profits... down....
- Eugene: The Landkeepers were minions of an Archangel we defeated. Maybe when their boss fled, all their brains got fried? I still don't trust her.
- Disheveled Landkeeper: No... job.... prospects...
- Eugene: She doesn't exactly have a sunny disposition, does she?
- Kayleigh: "Sunny"? Why don't we call her Sunny? We have to call her something!
- Sunny: Sunny....
(Choice between "What happened to you?" and "Do you remember anything?")
- Sunny: Landkeepers... bankrupt.... nothing... left....
- Sunny: Why... still... here....
- Eugene: Maybe the Landkeepers only exist to carry out their jobs, and now she doesn't know what else there is to do. Like a machine without a purpose.
- Kayleigh: Oh, you poor thing! There's still plenty of time for you to make a fresh start!
- Sunny: Fresh... start...?
- Kayleigh: Maybe the first step is getting you some new clothes, Sunny. I'm sure wearing that office outfit all day is pretty miserable!
- Sunny: ...
- Kayleigh: Then it's agreed! <player>, let's meet up at Harbourtown's tailor. It's on the upper level of Harbourtown, just north of here.
Quest Start, Harbourtown Tailor
- Kayleigh: Oh, hey! Everyone's here!
- Eugene: I'm still not sure we should be helping her out. Are you forgetting the time her former employer tried to take over the island?
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: This could be interesting.
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: I'm here for moral support.
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: I am curious! Perhaps this shall be entertaining?
- Sunny: Whuhh...?
- Kayleigh: Right, Sunny, I'll take you back here and you can pick out some new outfits.
- Sunny: OK...
(Sunny ducks behind the curtain, and comes out wearing a pink-and-green dress with red sunglasses.)
- Sunny: This... OK...?
- Eugene: I'm not sure about this, Kayleigh...
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: I'm having a great time already.
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: It's a start!
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: Hmm. Perhaps this maiden is even more unfamiliar with the styles and fashions of this land than I.
- Kayleigh: I'm not sure about this one, Sunny!
(Sunny drops the sunglasses and vest, replacing them with a pink bowler hat and eyeshadow.)
- Sunny: I'm not... sure...
- Eugene: That's not the direction I was expecting you to go.
- Kayleigh: You don't look super comfortable in that, Sunny... How about we try another?
(Finally, Sunny settles on her look.)
- Sunny: I think I... look good.
- Eugene: I...
- Eugene: Kayleigh, is it just me, or is Sunny...
- Kayleigh: Absolutely gorgeous? No, that's not just you.
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: OK, it turns out Sunny is actually cool. Who knew?
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: I think Sunny's found her look.
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: Quite unexpected. Quite.
(Choice between "You look cool, Sunny!" and "You look pretty cute, Sunny!")
- Sunny: OK. This is me now...
- Sunny: Thanks for the help... all of you.
- Eugene: I have some VERY mixed emotions right now.
- Kayleigh: We're glad to be able to help you, Sunny.
- Kayleigh: Harbourtown lets everyone have a fresh start. It's only fair that that includes "zombie estate agents".
- Sunny: Landkeepers are not "zombies". Landkeepers are vessels. Created to work.
- Sunny: Not anymore... from now on... I will try to be "Sunny" instead.
People are People
Intro, Gramophone Café
- Sunny: Hey... <player>...
(Choice between "Sunny! I didn't expect to see you here!" and "What's up, Sunny?")
- Sunny: There's something I need to do, <player>... to tie up loose ends...
(Choice between "Loose ends?" and "What do you mean?")
- Sunny: There's something about being a "Landkeeper" that I didn't tell you...
- Sunny: The "Mammon" beast that gave us orders... it was connected to us, and we were all connected to each other... like invisible telephone wire...
- Sunny: But the Archangel... Mammon... is gone now. I don't hear its orders in my head anymore. But I can still hear the thoughts of the other Landkeepers...
- If current partner is Kayleigh:
- Kayleigh: You can hear their thoughts?!
- If current partner is Eugene:
- Eugene: I think I get you. You had a network that linked you all, and that link is still there, even though you aren't one of them anymore.
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: You lot are all connected? Like a telepathic link or something? Alright, I'm following you so far.
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: Oh, so you and the other Landkeepers have some sort of telepathic connection?
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: I see. How curious.
- Sunny: <player>... the others - the Landkeepers - are planning something. They don't have a reason to continue being Landkeepers, but don't know how to change...
- Sunny: Their voices are discussing Mt. Wirral... I think they're organising up there. I need to find out what they are planning... <player>, can you meet me there?
- If current partner is Kayleigh:
- Kayleigh: I'm glad that Sunny is striking out on her own. Good for her!
- If current partner is Eugene:
- Eugene: Alright, let's help out Sunny! She's really changed a lot, huh?
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: OK. I suppose we should probably help the zombie girl out, right?
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: Helping her out sounds like it might be interesting, right?
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: I hope our friend Sunny is well. Perhaps our aid would be welcome?
Quest Start, Mt. Wirral
(A trio of Landkeepers stand beside a billboard, pondering documents. Sunny confronts them.)
- Sunny: <player>, you came! Thank you...
- Landkeeper: Oh, you brought some customers along? What a curious investment you have made...
- Sunny: No... you don't understand! People aren't "investments"... People are people...
- Sunny: And you don't need to act this way anymore... you're free now. We're ALL free now...
- Sunny: I don't know what you're planning, but we can all choose to be whatever we want to be, instead of being "Landkeepers"!
- If current partner is Kayleigh:
- Kayleigh: That's our Sunny!
- If current partner is Eugene:
- Eugene: That's the spirit, Sunny! You're totally right.
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: You tell 'em, mate.
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: That's right!
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: You've really found your own resolve, dear Sunny!
- Landkeeper: You've lost your enterprising spirit, Landkeeper!
- Landkeeper: Why don't we give you a CRASH COURSE in economics...?
- Sunny: I won't stay on the sidelines, <player>... This is my fight, too!
(After the Landkeepers are defeated)
- Landkeeper: Hngh... we're done here. It's time that we clocked out - we have places to be...
- If current partner is Kayleigh:
- Kayleigh: That was amazing, Sunny!
- If current partner is Eugene:
- Eugene: That was awesome, Sunny! You really kicked some ass, there!
- If current partner is Meredith:
- Meredith: Cool monster form, Sunny.
- If current partner is Felix:
- Felix: Cool monster form, Sunny!
- If current partner is Viola:
- Viola: A wonderful performance from our dear Sunny!
(Choice between "What monster tape was that?" and "Where'd you get that monster tape?")
- Sunny: It was a gift from Ianthe, once I told her about my plan to confront the Landkeepers...
- Sunny: They were having meetings out here... there must be some clue about what they're doing...
(Sunny scans the billboard.)
- Sunny: Wuh...? "The wheel beneath the old headquarters"... What does that mean...?
- Sunny: Oh! The old headquarters in the marsh... There's something underneath it!
- Sunny: <player>... please go with me to the Landkeeper's old base that you and Eugene destroyed... I think the Landkeepers are there...
- Sunny: I have to do this... I have to stop them, and put that life behind me once and for all...
(Sunny is now your partner!)
- Sunny: Truth be told, I'm kind of... excited...
New Landkeeper Hideout
(The player and Sunny discover an electronic door underneath the crumbled remains of the old Landkeeper HQ.)
- Sunny: Wuh...? This door has some sort of device on it. Is it to prevent intruders? Let me see...
(The door opens automatically as Sunny approaches.)
- Sunny: It seems to think I'm a Landkeeper! Let's go inside, <player>.
- Sunny: The remaining Landkeepers are all here... They must be here for a reason. Something about a "wheel"...?
- Sunny: I think we should go deeper...
(After inserting the keycards into the main door:)
- Sunny: The voices... the Landkeepers are excited about something up ahead... I can FEEL them...
- Sunny: Let's keep going...
(In the following chamber, a trio of Landkeepers are beholding a giant train's wheel, gleaming with magic power.)
- Sunny: The wheel... it really is just a big wheel... I don't understand...
- Landkeeper: Isn't it beautiful? Behold: The future of the Landkeeper's Association... the Wheel!
- Landkeeper: When our previous CEO was... displaced... the Landkeeper HQ collapsed into the depths of the island, along with many of us employees...
- Landkeeper: But down here in the dark, we found it. A new opportunity for us all...
(Choice between "What could it possibly do?" and "What use do you have for this?")
- Landkeeper: The wheel is a forgotten part of a greater whole, something of great power that lies beneath this island... a power that weaves through many worlds...
(Choice between "The Mer-Line!" and "So it's from one of the Mer-Line's trains?")
- Sunny: The "link" between Landkeepers that connects us... could this wheel extend that...?
- Landkeeper: Tell me, ex-colleague - do you know what we Landkeepers REALLY are?
- Sunny: We are vessels, created to serve by the Archangel Mammon, are we not...?
- Landkeeper: No... an Archangel cannot "create" things! It can only take, and reshape... The wheel will show you your truth!
- Sunny: Then... where did we come from...?
- Landkeeper: The wheel can connect us to other times, other places... other Landkeepers. With it... we can establish communication... arrange mergers...
- Sunny: <player>, they mean to reach out to other worlds and bring new Landkeepers here!
- Landkeeper: Yes! We're expanding our business operations! Mass recruitment! Aggressive expansion!
- Sunny: No you won't! I won't let you!
(Two of the three Landkeepers step forward to fight the player. After the battle, the third lays his hands on the Wheel.)
- Landkeeper: I AM RECRUITING REINFORCEMENTS FROM ACROSS THE COSMOS!
(Minosteam appears in a brilliant flash of light.)
- Sunny: What?!
- Landkeeper: Ah yes, a brazen bull to defend our capital... How fitting! This will do nicely!
- Sunny: <player>...
- Sunny: Let's finish this!
(Minosteam and the third Landkeeper fight the player. During the battle, Sunny and the player learn to fuse:)
- Sunny: I won't let anyone tell me what I have to be...
- Sunny: I only have to be ME!
(After the battle)
- Sunny: We beat them... Together...
- Sunny: The wheel can show me my "truth"...? What did he mean...?
(Choice between "Can he be trusted?" and "That thing might be dangerous...")
- Sunny: Just what AM I, exactly...?
(Sunny lays her hands on the Wheel. The ground quakes, and her eyes go blank.)
- Sunny: I see... the threads... connecting us, so close to my fingers I can almost grasp them...
(An image flashes on screen: a woman carrying a briefcase.)
- Sunny: I saw her, for a moment... Was that me? Was that who I was?
(Choice between "Are you OK, Sunny?" and "This might be bad for you...")
- Sunny: I'm so close... I just have to go further...
(A picture of Earth. Zooming in, we see the frowning woman in a graduate's uniform, then a suit. She leaves her home and sits at a computer desk. Several days pass, and she does nothing but type. Eventually, the computer blue screens, and Mammon appears on the monitor.)
- Sunny: This body... my body was someone else, once. She had her own life, but it was not her own...
- Sunny: She focused so much on her work that she lost herself. She was miserable...
- Sunny: It made her an easy target for Mammon. She was taken... taken, and made into a vessel.
- Sunny: Made into me...
- Sunny: There has to be more... more meaning, more answers across the cosmos... I just need to look deeper...
(Choice between "Be careful, Sunny!" and "You should stop.")
(Rapid flashes of incomprehensible photos - until suddenly, the Wheel falls into the pit below. The Landkeeper leaps to his feet.)
- Sunny: Urgh!
- Landkeeper: NO!
- Sunny: Uhh, I think I looked a bit too far into the cosmos. I lost myself for a moment there... Sorry.
(Choice between "Are you OK?" and "Did you find what you were looking for?")
- Sunny: I...
- Landkeeper: The wheel...
- Landkeeper: You saw it, didn't you? Your genesis? The moment you were chosen for a higher purpose? The moment you became what you were MEANT to be?
- Sunny: I... I am...
- Sunny: I'm Sunny. I am nothing else. It doesn't matter what people say I must be.
- Sunny: I'm simply Sunny.
- Sunny: Maybe you should stop being a Landkeeper just because you've been told that's what you are, and try being yourself sometime.
- Landkeeper: Hngh.
(The Landkeeper leaves in a huff.)
- Sunny: <player>, we should leave. I think we're done here...
Relationship Level Scenes
Relationship Level 1
- Sunny: I think... knowing that this... body... was someone else even before I was a Landkeeper...
- Sunny: It doesn't make me feel any different. I want to continue learning what it means to be me, as I am now.
- Sunny: I'm sure that "other me" would understand.
- Sunny: Please, <player>, show me things. New things! There's so much to see! I know you intend to leave New Wirral, but...
- Sunny: I wanna have fun, OK?
Relationship Level 2
- Sunny: OK, <player>. Tell me something. Something about your world.
(Choice between "Huh?" and "My world?")
- Sunny: Yeah! Your world is old, right...? New Wirral is young. I was told Harbourtown has only existed for a few generations...
- Sunny: Please, tell me about the history of your world!
- You give Sunny a brief rundown on the history of Earth. You skip a lot of the details, but that's OK.
- Sunny: That's... a lot to take in.
- Sunny: When I think about this island, and where I came from... from the person I once was on another world, to being a Landkeeper, to finding you here...
- Sunny: I can almost see the thread of history that led to me being me, here, now.
- Sunny: Does that make sense? Do you... see the threads of your world's history that lead you to be who you are now?
(Choice between "Yeah?" and "Not really!")
- If chosen "Yeah?":
- Sunny: OK! I'm glad! I wasn't sure if it was a silly question.
- If chosen "Not really!":
- Sunny: Don't worry about it... it was a silly question anyway!
- Sunny: I am still learning what it means to be oneself. Some part of that lies in our history, but only so much...
- Sunny: I wonder about the human I once was... the woman who lived in my body first... I wonder how her history shaped her...
- Sunny: Maybe I am asking the wrong questions... Maybe I need to ask you more about the present, not the past!
(Choice between "That sounds like a plan!" and "I guess so!")
- Sunny: OK, I'll try and think of some better questions for you for next time!
Relationship Level 3
- Sunny: Hey <player>...
- Sunny: There are a lot of people on your world... aren't there? I mean... a lot more than here on this island.
- Sunny: You must meet more people than you could even get to know!
(Choice between "Yeah, I guess so!" and "Yep, that's right!")
- Sunny: Don't you feel sad about that? That there's friendships you might miss out on...?
- Sunny: Though... I suppose they might not really end up as friends. Not all people can connect with each other...
(Choice between "Yep." and "That's an understatement.")
- Sunny: Don't worry, I do understand that much. The other Landkeepers and I... are not friends.
- Sunny: The roles given to them are so rigid... so impossible to change, that they can't imagine life any other way...
- Sunny: Maybe me choosing to be "Sunny" instead of a "Landkeeper" is an insult to them.
- Sunny: But knowing that people might not connect with you, or even despise you... this isn't enough to stop me reaching out to others.
- Sunny: People are interesting to me! It's fun to talk to them, I think...
(Choice between "I agree!" and "That's a good outlook!")
- Sunny: Heh heh.
Relationship Level 4
- Sunny: Being hungry is pretty funny, isn't it...?
(Choice between "Is it...?" and "Being hungry is no laughing matter!")
- Sunny: Is that such a strange statement?
- Sunny: It's a feeling we have that changes our behaviour, even if we don't want it to...
- Sunny: The things we desire in our bodies overrule us, pushing us to make decisions...
(Choice between "I guess that's true." and "Do you have many of these bodily desires?")
- If chosen "I guess that's true.":
- Sunny: See? It wasn't a strange statement after all!
- Sunny: Some food makes me feel this way more than others. I guess that's "preference"...
- Sunny: I bet your world has a lot of really good food that isn't on New Wirral, <player>!
- (Choice between "Yep." and "Let me tell you about 'restaurants'.")
- Sunny: Please... tell me about these foods. I want to know about them, OK?
- If chosen "Do you have many of these bodily desires?":
- Sunny: You- Buh- I'm not... I'm talking about food!
- Sunny: A lot of human desires are... interesting, but food is easier to talk about...
- The conversation awkwardly trailed off after that.
Relationship Level 5
- Sunny: Hey, <player>.
- Sunny: There's something I'm curious about... People's homes. They are reflections of them, I'm told.
- Sunny: Can you show me your home...?
(Choice between "Sure!" and "Not now.")
- If chosen "Sure!":
- Sunny: OK! Let's go...
At home, the player sits on their bed while Sunny looks up at them.
- Sunny: ...
- Sunny: I've been thinking so much on what it means to be me, and to be a person...
- Sunny: And I think I understand now.
- Sunny: What makes people... is other people.
- Sunny: If I didn't have you in my life, and Kayleigh, and Eugene, I wouldn't BE Sunny...
- Sunny: After all, you were the ones to give me that name. The first gift I ever received - and I'll treasure it forever.
- Sunny: It feels like so long since then... I feel so differently about everything now.
- Sunny: Even you, <player>. At first, I saw you as a stranger, someone I feared, or didn't trust. But now, I see you as...
- (Choice between "As a friend?" and "As something more...?")
- If chosen "As a friend?":
- Sunny: Of course! We've traveled together... fought monsters together... even fused together...
- Sunny: Those connections with one another? This is what it means to live. To be human, I think...
- Sunny: One day I know you'll move on from this place... but those connections will always be there between us. Making us who we are.
- Sunny: At least, that's what I think.
- If chosen "As something more...?":
- Sunny: Uh...
- Sunny: Do you mean that how I think you mean it...?
- (Choice between "I mean we're close friends!" and "I mean I have feelings for you.") Choosing "I mean we're close friends!" plays the previous "As a friend?" dialogue.
- If chosen "I mean I have feelings for you.":
- Sunny: So it's... not just me.
- Sunny: If I am honest, I've had some... complicated feelings inside me for some time.
- Sunny: It's so hard for me to know what's normal, and what's not...
- Sunny: But if you feel the same, then I'll try to be direct:
- Sunny: I want to be close to you, very close to you, right now... if that's OK...?
- If chosen "Not now.":
- Sunny: OK. Another time...
Romance
- Sunny: You look like you have something you want to say, <player>, I think...?
(Choice between "I want us to be together." and "Nothing in particular.")
- If chosen "I want us to be together.":
- Sunny: I...
- Sunny: I think I understand what it is you're asking.
- Sunny: It's not just about being close to each other physically, it's something more...
- Sunny: A validation of the connection between us, as people...
- (Choice between "Yeah." and "That's one way to put it.")
- Sunny: Of course I want that... I want nothing more...
- Sunny: But... we can still be close physically too, right...?
- Sunny: Because when I see you, there are a lot of feelings I have. I want to be physically close to you, and also want to be connected to you, connected to your heart...
- Sunny: These feelings all blend into one and I can't tell where they begin or end. It makes me feel like I don't understand myself as much as I want to...
- Sunny: I need to be close to you, I think.
- Sunny: I need to feel your hands on mine, a-and other things like that, too!
- Sunny: So... yes. I want to be with you. Until you go.
- Sunny: I know you have to go home eventually... but this connection will always be there between us. Making us who we are.
- If chosen "Nothing in particular.":
- Sunny: OK, <player>...
Campsite and Gramophone Café Conversations
- Sunny: Does your world have more clothes than this one, <player>?
(Choice between "Yes." and "Quite a lot more...")
- Sunny: It does?!
- Sunny: Though... I only just discovered how I like to dress... Maybe I'm not ready for a new look...
- Sunny: The "Archangels", like Mammon...
- Sunny: They are made by people, I understand...?
(Choice between "Sort of..." and "Something like that.")
- Sunny: I see...
- Sunny: An Archangel seems so much stronger than a human... but that's the wrong way to look at it, I think...
- Sunny: When I see people in Harbourtown working together, they are like one whole...
- Sunny: An Archangel might be strong, but I can't imagine any Archangel is a match for all people, together!
- Sunny: The ocean surrounding New Wirral...
- Sunny: I wonder if you built a ship and sailed away from here you'd find more islands like it...
- Sunny: Maybe I'll do that one day, when my heart yearns to see new lands!
- Sunny: What are the monsters on your world like, <player>?
(Choice between "There aren't any." and "I think that's just a New Wirral thing.")
- Sunny: Whuh...? Really?
- Sunny: I didn't realize... I guess that explains a lot...
- Sunny: It is a strange thing to think that many people on this island are lost here...
- Sunny: After all, I'm not lost here. Here is where I found myself...
- Sunny: New Wirral... a place where you can be forever lost, and forever found...
- Sunny: Something I've been thinking about...
- Sunny: If someone else lived in my body once, did I inherit their likes and dislikes also...?
- Sunny: Or are those my own? I wonder...
- Sunny: People seem to enjoy eating food a lot, don't they...?
(Choice between "What do you mean?" and "Huh?")
- Sunny: You seem to do it at least once a day!
(Choice between "It's necessary!" and "You have to eat to stay alive!")
- Sunny: Do you...? That's strange...
- Sunny: I seem to be OK if I don't eat anything at all!
- Sunny: Maybe I am less like other people than I thought...
- Sunny: A fresh start...
- Sunny: That's what Kayleigh said everyone on New Wirral gets, right...? Do you think EVERYONE deserves a second chance at life...?
(Choice between "I think so." and "Not everyone.")
- If chosen "I think so.":
- Sunny: So do I, I think...
- If chosen "Not everyone.":
- Sunny: To be undeserving of a second chance in life... I don't think I want to meet someone like that...
- Sunny: The past me... the person who lived in my body once...
- Sunny: She seemed so unhappy... It seems so sad to live an unhappy life and not be able to change it...
- Sunny: Promise me, <player>, to always live as happily as you can...
- Sunny: Don't let your world change you, or make you into someone you're not... OK?
- Sunny: So if I understand correctly... this island was made and maintained by an Archangel that goes by the name "Mer-Line"... correct?
(Choice between "It seems that way." and "I think that's right!")
- Sunny: This Archangel must have had a reason to do all this...
- Sunny: But also... maybe their reasons are beyond our understanding?
- Sunny: Either way, I don't think it's something we should worry about! Whatever the future may hold, we'll be ready for it...
Gramophone Café
- Sunny: Tell me, <player>... does your world also have a café...?
(Choice between "There are a lot, actually." and "Nope - this is the only one I've ever seen!")
- If chosen "There are a lot, actually.":
- Sunny: Many cafés...? That's difficult for me to imagine...
- If chosen "Nope - this is the only one I've ever seen!":
- Sunny: Wow! This place must be very exciting for you, then...!
Campsite
- Sunny: Is the sky as beautiful on your world as it is here, <player>?
(Choice between "It's... very different." and "It doesn't quite look the same.")
- Sunny: In the day, the sun glides across the sky, together with the pitch-black moon... At night, that same moon consumes the swirling lights that dance together...
- Sunny: It's wonderful, don't you think...?
(Choice between "It's cool!" and "I find it kind of eerie.")
- If chosen "It's cool!":
- Sunny: Heh... I thought you'd agree. Very "cool"...
- If chosen "I find it kind of eerie.":
- Sunny: Heh... maybe it's quite different to what you're used to...
- Sunny: When I feel the wind like this...
- Sunny: I feel like... the woman whose body this was, she didn't get to feel the wind in her hair like this...
- Sunny: Maybe I'm making up for lost time, in a way...
After romance
- Sunny: I... like the way you look when I see you lit by the fire, <player>...
- Sunny: The embers reflected in your eyes - it may sound silly, but I feel like I see a whole world in you...
- Sunny: Maybe that's the world you came from... Like you've harboured a piece of it inside you, all this time, guiding you home...
- Sunny: ...
Romancing Kayleigh
- Sunny: You and Kayleigh... you have a sort of connection, don't you...?
(Choice between "Yeah!" and "I guess you could phrase it like that.")
- Sunny: I thought so. It makes me happy to know two of my friends are so close...
- Sunny: Whilst I do not share a bond with anyone like this, it would be nice...
Romancing Eugene
- Sunny: You and Eugene are close, aren't you?
(Choice between "Yeah!" and "I guess you could phrase it like that.")
- Sunny: I thought so. Eugene is sure of himself in many ways, and not so much in others... I think you are someone who would help bring out the best in him.
- Sunny: The two of you are a good pair, I believe...

Character Interactions
Sunny and Kayleigh
- Sunny: ...So you mean to say that, where you’re from, some people CHOOSE to live like Landkeepers…?
- Kayleigh: Well I wouldn’t phrase it like that, exactly - it’s more that you need money to live, so an office job is a way to get money.
- Sunny: So people choose to live in an office to survive…?
- Kayleigh: Oh, they don’t live there - it’s just for the day! Think of it as a role you play in the daytime, before you come home and become yourself again.
- Sunny: I see… did you have an “office job” before coming to New Wirral, Kayleigh…?
- Kayleigh: Uh, I’m not qualified for that kind of work.
Sunny and Eugene
- Sunny: ...It feels so long ago when we first met, Eugene…
- Eugene: You mean when you first walked into this café? Yeah, I guess it’s been a little bit since then.
- Sunny: No, I mean when I was a Landkeeper and first came into Harbourtown. You confronted me and my colleague and told us to leave, remember…?
- Eugene: Wait, that was YOU? Sunny, I never realised…
- Sunny: It’s OK, Eugene. We weren’t friends when we first met, but we are now… That’s better, don’t you think…?
- Eugene: A big improvement, I agree.
Sunny and Meredith
- Sunny: ...No, I never had to “drink blood” as a Landkeeper...
- Meredith: So you’re not, like, a vampire. But are you sure you aren’t maybe a little bit undead? You look pretty pale.
- Sunny: ”Undead”? I’m not familiar with the word... Is it bad..?
- Meredith: I guess not. I’m just curious about you.
- Sunny: You’re... curious about me...?
- Meredith: Don’t take it the wrong way! You’re like, a living dead girl. Or maybe you’re not. Either way, it’s cool.
- Sunny: So you’re saying you don’t quite understand me, and that interests you...?
- Meredith: I... guess?
Sunny and Felix
- Sunny: ...You want to draw me...?
- Felix: Yeah! Your story is pretty inspiring, after all. You escaped your previous life as a corporate drone to be your own person. I could totally base a character on you for the story I’m writing.
- Sunny: I... that’s very kind of you. I would be honoured for you to draw me, Felix...
- Sunny: Though I must request that my clothes stay on for the drawing process.
- Felix: Don’t worry, I’m not that kind of artist.
Sunny and Viola
- Sunny: ...Do you have fond memories from your times travelling, Viola...?
- Viola: ...Fond memories? The finest! The wind in my hair one night, and the warm bed of a tavern the following moon. Upon one night I may be found dining with friends of my father; the next I may be performing poetry in fair Verona.
- Sunny: ”Fair Verona”... that sounds like a nice place...
- Viola: It... may be so, yet I must confess: I happened to have stolen the heart of a maiden of high standing in Verona and caused a local feud, the likes of which escalated most devilishly. I do not intend to return.
- Sunny: ...You do have a lot of stories, it seems!
Sunny and Barkley
- Sunny: ...I guess you’re a “dog”, is that right...?
- Barkley: Arf!
- Sunny: You are the first “dog” I’ve met. I would like to meet more, if given the chance...
Sunny and Frankie
- Frankie: ...So even though I didn’t know New Wirral existed before coming here, in some way I’ve been preparing for this kind of thing happening to me my whole life!
- Sunny: I see... because you read many fantasy stories… and write your own, if I am understanding right...?
- Frankie: Yes! Though the specific details with cassette tapes is a new twist, people love stories about friendships between monsters and humans - especially if there’s romance, too.
- Sunny: They do...? Is that why you are excited to be here - to be romanced by a monster?
- Frankie: What, m-me? No, I’m strictly an observer.
Date with Eugene
(Before beginning People are People, if the player chose to stay platonic with Eugene during his 5-heart scene, the following scene may play when entering East Harbourtown at night.)
(Next to the town sun dial, Sunny and Eugene stand side by side, looking towards the sea.)
- Sunny: ...I just don't think it's... I think we should just be friends.
- Eugene: Is this because of my whole "campaign to take down the Landkeepers" thing? I know we're an unlikely pair but I can't stop thinking about you.
- Eugene: It's weird.
- Sunny: No, it's not that. I'm not a Landkeeper now. I think...
- Sunny: I haven't been "Sunny" for long. I need more time to be me.
- Sunny: I have enjoyed our "date", though.
- Eugene: I understand. Don't worry about it, Sunny.
