Once the player encounters Sunny on Mt. Wirral, she joins the player and the active partner character in a 3 vs. 3 battle against a trio of scheming Landkeepers. Sunny uses her signature Pawper, while the foes use a Mascotorn, Scampire, and Spooki-onna respectively. Upon defeating the Landkeepers, they reveal that they plan to use "the wheel" to continue their schemes. Determined to stop them, Sunny asks the player to accompany her to the destroyed Landkeeper HQ. From here on, Sunny is unlocked as a partner character.
Upon taking Sunny to the ruined Landkeeper HQ, she uses her status as an ex-Landkeeper to open the hidden entrance to the hidden cave beneath the building. After making it beyond a sealed door that requires two hidden keycards to open, the player and Sunny do battle against two Landkeepers, before a third Landkeeper reveals that the "wheel" is literally a discarded wheel from the Mer-Line, with the lingering power to capture people and monsters from other worlds. The Landkeeper summons a Minosteam, and joins it in battle against the player and Sunny. Sunny, affirming that she only needs to be herself, gains the resolution to fuse with the player. Once the Landkeeper and Minosteam have been defeated, the Minosteam leaves peacefully. Sunny, goaded by the Landkeeper she battled, touches the wheel to get a peer into the true nature of Landkeepers' origins, specifically her own past. Sunny's mind is transported to a time when she was a human woman, whose soul-crushing office job left her too dreary to resist Mammon's influence, getting transported to New Wirral as a Landkeeper with no memory of her past. Sunny, much to the nearby Landkeeper's shock, is not upset at this revelation, affirming that she is still herself. Sunny peers too deeply into the wheel's cosmic knowledge and accidentally knocks it into the abyss behind it. Upset, the nearby Landkeeper is forced to secede. Sunny thanks the player for assisting her, and aims to continue learning new things and forging her own identity, feeling like the "other me" (her past life) would agree.
At any point after completing this quest, Minosteam can be found as a static encounter.
