Acting On Your Best Behaviour
Landkeeper HQ
- Eugene: This is supposedly the location of the Landkeeper's Headquarters...
- Eugene: Alright - these creeps are no match for our burning resolve!
- Eugene: ...
- Eugene: Where the hell is the entrance anyway?
(Entrance to HQ opens)
- Eugene: ...
- Eugene: I think I found the entrance.
(Landkeepers and Mammon are revealed from the darkness)
- Eugene: What - how - does that thing... look like that?! It's breaking my brain...
- Eugene: I guess this is an Archangel, huh?
(After Mammon's speech)
- Eugene: I...
- Eugene: That's not... true...
(Choice between "Don't listen to it, Eugene!" and "It's wrong!")
- Eugene: STOP!
- Eugene: I'm not listening any longer!
- Eugene: You won't crush my spirit! That's all your kind knows how to do!
- Eugene: Some bigwig comes along, tries to take everything from the little guy...
- Eugene: And then when the little guy fights back, they're told not to step out of line, right?!
- Eugene: So they don't do anything... And things just get worse!
- Eugene: It's the same old story!
- Eugene: <player>...
- Eugene: Wanna burn down this pile of junk?
(Choice between "You know I do." and "Let's do it.")
(Mid-battle against Mammon)
- Eugene: You're not gonna crush my spirit...
- Eugene: And you won't stop <player> so easily either!
- Eugene: We'll take you on together, and we'll WIN!
(After Mammon is defeated)
- Eugene: This place is falling apart. C'mon, we gotta go!
(The player, Eugene, and the Landkeepers escape the collapsing HQ)
- Eugene: I guess all the Landkeeper agents fled... I wonder what they'll do, now their operation has been shut down?
- Eugene: Man, it was pretty cool when we fused in there.
(Choice between "You think?" and "It was, wasn't it?")
- Eugene: Yeah! It was like an adrenaline rush, except I could feel your will driving me as well as my own. Even an Archangel couldn't stop us!
- Eugene: An Archangel was behind the Landkeepers all along, huh...
- Eugene: What it said there... What if it was true?
- Eugene: Maybe without some cause to champion all the time, I am just a hollow person.
(Choice between "I don't think you're a loser." and "You shouldn't think that way.")
- Eugene: ...
- Eugene: Heh. Thanks, man.
- Eugene: What motivates YOU to do what you do, anyway?
- Eugene: Y'know, you journey around, help people out, fight monsters and all that?
(Choice between "I've discovered a way off the island." and "I'm going to find a way to return home.")
- Eugene: Hmm. Sounds pretty improbable.
- Eugene: I'm in.
(Choice between "Really?" and "Just like that?")
- Eugene: Just like that!
- Eugene: We've stopped the Landkeepers, but I don't wanna just rest my feet.
- Eugene: I don't know if I physically can.
- Eugene: I need something to strive towards. So let's do it. A new cause to work towards. I'm in.
- Eugene: So let's do it. A new cause to work towards.
- Eugene: I'm in.

Relationship Level 2
- Eugene: Man, I gotta say...
- Eugene: Monster fusion is pretty exhilarating.
(Choice between "You think?" and "I guess it is!")
- Eugene: Yeah! It's like...
- Eugene: A real manifestation of our inner strength.
- Eugene: Like, in the heat of the moment, our aims align so closely that we can literally become one powerful force.
- Eugene: In that moment, it's like we're unstoppable.
(Choice between "I know what you mean!" and "You sound like an anime character right now.")
- If chosen "I know what you mean!":
- Eugene: Man, I knew you'd get it!
- If chosen "You sound like an anime character right now.":
- Eugene: Man, I'm trying to be earnest here!
- Eugene: I think I spent too long living without giving back, y'know?
- Eugene: Maybe I'm making up for lost time.
(Choice between "What's the deal with your world?" and "What was happening on your world?")
- Eugene: Eh, don't worry about it. We can talk about it another time.
- Eugene: I'll go back. To my world, I mean. Once you find your doorway outta here, of course.
- Eugene: I'll bring my cassette tapes with me, and I'll stand up for the people who need it the most.
- Player: Like a monster-shaped superhero?
- Eugene: Like a monster-shaped superhero, yeah.
- Eugene: Sounds pretty badass, doesn't it?
Relationship Level 3
- Eugene: I was thinking about how Clémence totally just… decided to run a cafe just because it helped make the town better.
- Eugene: Improving things, making myself useful… that’s the kinda stuff I should be doing!
(Choice between "You don’t need to think about helping people all the time." and "You help enough!")
- Eugene: Heh. If you say so.
- Eugene: Maybe it's just a compulsion that comes from my world.
(Choice between "What do you mean?" and "...Your world?")
- Eugene: Ok, on ‘my earth’, around halfway through the 21st century, there was a kind of… an upheaval.
- Eugene: Humanity’s greed and consumption reached a point where the world couldn’t handle it anymore.
- Eugene: It was like everyone woke up one day and realised that we could survive better by just helping each other instead.
- Eugene: That we didn’t NEED the institutions that ruled over us while killing the planet.
- Eugene: Being able to help the people in your community slowly became more important than being rich and famous, but I was never… very good at it.
- Eugene: Me being here in New Wirral, it’s a chance for me to transform into my best self, so I can return home as someone who can do something with my life.
(Choice between "You don't need to be a hero to have value!" and "You don't need to beat yourself up over this!")
- Eugene: I know, but...
- Eugene: I think I need that for myself.
- Eugene: Anyway, enough from me.
Relationship Level 4
- Eugene: Ok, I’ve decided.
(Choice between "...Decided?" and "Decided on what?")
- Eugene: I have a project in mind.
- Eugene: I’m gonna stop talking about doing something, and just do it.
- Eugene: I’ll make Harbourtown better - just you wait and see.
(Choice between "You already stopped the Landkeepers!" and "You've already done your bit to help Harbourtown!")
- Eugene: I don’t know… stopping something bad doesn’t feel the same as doing something good, right?
- Eugene: Alright, I’m pumped! It’s gonna be awesome, just you wait.
(Choice between "What are you planning?" and "Can you tell me what 'it' is?")
- Eugene: Nah, you’re just gonna have to wait and see!
- Eugene: The “defender of Harbourtown” should be able to keep a secret, after all.
Romance
- Eugene: You’re pretty quiet. Is everything all good, buddy?
(Choice between "I want us to be together." and "Nothing in particular!")
- If chosen "I want us to be together.":
- Eugene: I… Uh...
- Eugene: I know. I mean, I do too. I’m just nervous.
- Eugene: I think both of us help each other become our best selves.
- Eugene: Together we’re greater than the sum of our parts. It’s like when we fuse!
- Eugene: That said… we might have to break up if we find our way off the island.
- Eugene: You mean a lot to me, but I have my old life that’s waiting for me to return back to. And you do too.
- Eugene: But while we’re together, let’s have fun!
- Eugene: There are people to help, and giant monsters to punch really hard in the face.
- Eugene: The same as always – Harbourtown’s unstoppable power couple!
- Eugene: Though maybe we can pause the adventuring, at least for tonight...
- If chosen "Nothing in particular!":
- Eugene: Gotcha.

Partner Interactions in Gramophone Café
Eugene and Kayleigh
- Kayleigh: ...I don’t understand you, Eugene. You love all this “save the community” stuff, but you don’t want to join the rangers with me?
- Eugene: It’s nothing personal. I’m just a loose cannon, is all. A lone wolf. I can’t abide by an organisation that might hold me back.
- Kayleigh: I don’t think that’s it. I think you’re scared that you might fail the entry test!
- Eugene: Th-that’s not it at all!
Eugene and Meredith
- Meredith: ...I did have some engineering work to do back at the shop, but I might just swerve it for now.
- Eugene: Yeah! You gotta take a break sometimes, buddy!
- Eugene: …. Wait, what did you say just now?
- Meredith: Uhh, I said I had some engineering work to do?
- Eugene: What did you say after that…?
- Meredith: ...I was gonna swerve it?
- Eugene: Is that a phrase? To “swerve” something?
- Meredith: Oh, I mean, yeah. Like if you’re going to skip out on doing something or going somewhere, that’s you “swerving” it.
- Eugene: OK, gotcha. I shall embrace your unusual slang with an open mind.
- Meredith: I think I’m gonna swerve this whole conversation.
Eugene and Felix
- Eugene: ...So you quit your job, because your bosses kept screwing you around?
- Felix: Pretty much. It’s more than that, though. If I went to work somewhere else, I’d just have another boss giving me orders.
- Felix: The only way to break the cycle is to work for myself. No more bosses.
- Eugene: Yeah! That’s the spirit! No more bosses – live on your own terms, man!
- Felix: Though my career plans have hit a roadblock recently. I think it happened after I fell through time and space and ended up living on monster island.
- Eugene: It happens to the best of us!
Eugene and Viola
- Eugene: ...So you washed up on New Wirral after being shipwrecked in a storm, [pause]right?
- Viola: Yes, that is correct.
- Eugene: And you’re looking for your twin brother, Sebastian…
- Eugene: This just sounds really familiar and I don’t know why. Are you famous? Have we met before?
- Viola: I can assure you that I am no-one of notoriety or interest. As for whether we’ve met? I’m sure I would remember someone as spirited as thee, Eugene.
- Eugene: I guess so. Still, your story seems so familiar…
Eugene and Barkley
- Eugene: ...So you’re a dog.
- Barkley: Arf!
- Eugene: …But you can use a cassette player to transform into monsters like the rest of us.
- Barkley: Arf arf!
- Eugene: Are you some kind of… magical talking dog? From another world?
- Barkley: Arf!
- Eugene: Hmm. I guess not.
Here Comes The Sun
(After meeting The Mer-Line)
- Eugene: Well, maybe it’s for the best that we don't fight this one. You know what Helia said about Aleph...
