Fusion
One of the core mechanics of Cassette Beasts is fusion. The game has a fusion meter which accrues power every time the player takes damage in a battle. Once it is full, the player and their partner can fuse each of the monsters they play as into a combined form.
Gameplay
Fused monsters gain the moves of both monsters they are derived from, and have statistics based on the combined statistics of them. Therefore, they are immensely powerful. However, playing as one monster instead of two also means that you can only do one move per turn, and if your opponent has sufficient stats to deal significant damage, are at more risk of being hurt.
If the fusion takes fatal damage, it is dissolved and both of its components are unfused as well. After completing a battle, fusion is not maintained.
Fusion Power

Once you reach a certain relationship level with a partner, you can execute a special move called Fusion Power when you fuse with them. It deals an immense amount of damage, often killing your opponent's monster instantly or seriously harming them. Its exact nature depends on what monsters you have fused.
Rogue Fusions
Additionally, there are also Rogue Fusions that exist in the wild. They are indicated by a black outline of a monster, and all look the same on the overworld regardless of the monsters fused.
- Fusion Swarms have several normal monsters that the player has to fight before the fusion. The fusion in these battles has a significantly higher chance of containing a bootleg monster.
- Unstable Fusions are fusions where one monster is Anathema, which appear after completing certain content in the Ranger Noticeboard.
