Recruit Training: Frankie

Part 1

• Cybil: Hey-hey, <player>! I want you to meet our latest and greatest recruit: Frankie!

• Frankie: Omigosh, are you another veteran monster fighter of this mysterious island also?!

(Choice between "Veteran?" and "I haven't been here THAT long!")

• Frankie: A magical world full of monsters, and the dashing heroes who transform to battle them...!

• Frankie: THIS IS EVERYTHING I EVER DREAMED OF!

If current partner is Kayleigh:

• Kayleigh: You're pretty excited by all this, aren't you?

If current partner is Eugene:

• Eugene: I like your enthusiasm!

If current partner is Meredith:

• Meredith: That's not the reaction I was expecting.

If current partner is Felix:

• Felix: You're more enthusiastic than I was when I first came here.

If current partner is Viola:

• Viola: You don't seem disturbed by your unexpected voyage to this place, friend.

If current partner is Sunny:

• Sunny: This girl seems pretty happy to be here!

• Cybil: As you can see, Frankie here has taken the news of coming to New Wirral pretty well.

• Frankie: I assure you, I want to make the most of this! Joining the Rangers is no doubt the path this adventure has in store for me! Hehe~

• Cybil: I've given Frankie a spare cassette player. All you'll need to do now is give her a monster tape, and show her the ropes!

• Cybil: ...And that's the end of my broadcast! See you around <player>!

• Frankie: My very own monster form... The first step on my own fantastical journey...

• Frankie: Do you have a tape for me?

(Choice between "Here it is!" and "Not yet.")
(After giving Frankie a cassette:)

• Frankie: I'm gonna be <monster description>, huh?

• Frankie: ...

• Frankie: THIS FORM IS PERFECT! I WILL TREASURE THIS CASSETTE TAPE WITH MY LIFE!

• Frankie: Please, Captain, you must "show me the ropes"! I demand to see the ropes! Let's fight some monsters, OK?

(After defeating the monsters:)

• Frankie: Wow, turning into a weird monster is actually much more tiring than I thought it would be.

• Frankie: I think I need to go and rest. And eat a lot of food. Potentially in that order.

• Frankie: Seeya, Captain! Thanks for training me! A plucky young hero always needs a wisened mentor, and I'm glad it's you!

If current partner is Kayleigh:

• Kayleigh: She's quite the personality!

If current partner is Eugene:

• Eugene: You're a pretty good teacher, <player>!

If current partner is Meredith:

• Meredith: I'm glad I am no longer the most socially awkward person on the island.

If current partner is Felix:

• Felix: Huh. You're a pretty good teacher.

If current partner is Viola:

• Viola: You took the role of the tutor in your stride, <player>.

If current partner is Sunny:

• Sunny: You make for a pretty good teacher, <player>!

Part 2

• Frankie: Oh, hey there captain! Are you here to assist me in my own personal hero's journey?

(Choice between "'Hero's Journey'...?" and "What are you up to?")

• Frankie: THERE MUST COME A MOMENT WHERE EVERY PLUCKY YOUNG ADVENTURER CARVES THEIR OWN PATH~

• Frankie: That's what I'm doing. I'm the plucky young adventurer, if you didn't get where I was going with this.

(Choice between "I see." and "I'm not following.")

• Frankie: Anyway, I found one of those "Rogue Fusions" just up ahead - I'm going to go and show it who's boss!

(Choice between "Do you need a hand?" and "Are you sure that's a good idea?")

• Frankie: Don't worry! I have a natural affinity for this - I've read over 200 fanfics about people transforming into monsters. (Please don't ask me to elaborate on this.)

• Frankie: Let's go!

(After the fight)

• Frankie: WE DID IT~

• Frankie: My career is coming along quite well, I think!

(Choice between "Career?" and "Huh?")

• Frankie: W-well, my career as a dashing and mysterious heroine who saves the humble people of this fantasy land, of course!

• Frankie: I have no doubt - soon a greater evil shall arise...

• Frankie: AND I SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING THIS ISLAND!

(Choice between "You're a bit late." and "I've done that already!")

• Frankie: Huh? Y-you have?

• Frankie: That's OK! I'm sure there'll be SOME evil left somewhere for me to overcome! You might have missed a spot!

Part 3

• Frankie: Hey, <player>! I have a question for you!

(Choice between "Ask away!" and "What's your question?")

• Frankie: What does it mean... to take charge of your life?

(Choice between "That's a broad question." and "What..?")

• Frankie: W-well, I should be using my time on New Wirral to fulfil my life, or something! Save the world! Find my true calling! Fall in love!

• Frankie: Y'know, all the classic adventure stuff. I can't waste a second!

(Choice between "Maybe your expectations are too high..." and "Don't put yourself under too much pressure!")

• Frankie: Hm. You're probably right.

• Frankie: OK, second question! Can you help me fight a Rogue Fusion I found nearby? I'm sure that'll be a worthwhile experience!

(After the fight)

• Frankie: Thanks for the help, <player>! I have decided that that was indeed a worthwhile experience!

Part 4

• Frankie: Hey, captain! I am thinking of attempting to become a real ranger.

• Frankie: No more rookie status for me! Though I'll need to get stronger first.

• Frankie: ...So of course, I've tracked down a Rogue Fusion to battle! There's no time to wait - let's go pummel it!

(After the fight)

• Frankie: Thanks for the assistance! Perhaps next time you and I meet out in the field, you'll be seeing me as a fully-fledged ranger!

Part 5

• Frankie: Nyeh heh heh~! I bet you never expected that I would challenge you to a duel, right?

• Frankie: THE STUDENT MUST TAKE ON THE MASTER! The only way I can become a true ranger is to defeat you and claim your stamp!

• Frankie: I even tamed this Puppercut to help me! What do you say - do you accept my challenge?

(Choice between "Give it your all, rookie!" and "I won't go easy on you!")
(After the fight)

• Frankie: Nyeh heh heh~! I knew you'd be tough.

• Frankie: That's why I made sure to battle the other 12 captains first.

(Choice between "Huh?" and "You did what?")

• Frankie: You heard correctly - I already qualify for rangerhood!

• Frankie: I just wanted to see how tough you were. You didn't disappoint!

• Frankie: See you around, Captain~!

Friendly Battle

• Frankie: Nyeh heh heh~! Bet you didn't expect to find your two protégés here, did you, Captain?

• Vin: Hey <player>. I've finally passed my training and become a full-time ranger!

If current partner is Kayleigh:

• Kayleigh: I never would have figured these two would end up friends!

If current partner is Eugene:

• Eugene: Heh. I guess these two are buddies now?

If current partner is Meredith:

• Meredith: These two ended up as mates? I guess that figures.

If current partner is Felix:

• Felix: I didn't realise you two knew each other! I suppose it's a small island.

If current partner is Viola:

• Viola: I would never have assumed a friendship between such two different individuals!

If current partner is Sunny:

• Sunny: I never would have thought those two would become friends!

• Frankie: Uh, I have some news too.

• Frankie: My pet Puppercut ran away~!

• Frankie: Captain Cybil says wild monsters don't make great pets, but... I'm certain it was the fanfic I wrote about him.

• Frankie: But not to worry! My new best buddy Vin doesn't mind that stuff!

• Vin: What's a fanfic, <player>? She won't tell me...

• Frankie: AHHHH~!

• Frankie: I demand a rematch, Captain! Me and Vin against you and <partner>! How about it?

(Choice between "Sure!" and "Not now.")

• Frankie: Ahh... Not again!

• Vin: Chin up, Frankie. We can't win them all.

• Vin: <player>, it wasn't until I fused with Frankie that I realised relying on others isn't a weakness.

• Vin: When we combine our efforts, we're more than simply the sum of our parts. That's what all this is about, isn't it?

• Frankie: AND SO THE PLUCKY HEROINE AIDS THE ANTI-HERO'S REDEMPTION ARC THROUGH THE POWER OF LOVE~!

• Vin: Wait...?! What...

• Frankie: Hey <player>! Just catching up on the latest goss before I head back out!

• Frankie: Hey <player>! Got any tasks for your promising young protégé? (I mean me.)

Frankie and Kayleigh

• Frankie: ...I have to ask, Kayleigh. Is your hair naturally that colour?

• Kayleigh: Yeah! It’s not super uncommon to have ginger hair, at least in my neck of the woods.

• Kayleigh: I’m guessing you weren’t born with pink hair, though.

• Frankie: Well, no, but it's STAYED this colour ever since I washed up here.

• Kayleigh: If you’re happy with that then it’s not so bad, right?

• Frankie: It certainly saves me money on hair dye!

• Frankie: …Not that money exists here. Or hair dye.

Frankie and Eugene

• Frankie: …I just think that maybe I’m not the person my parents thought I’d be growing up. They’re supportive of me, but maybe I’m not the kid they thought I’d be.

• Eugene: I get that. I had a pretty momentous childhood - but my parents spent a lot of theirs fighting in the trenches of a guerilla war for the fate of a burning world, y’know?

• Frankie: …What?

• Eugene: I mean like, they raised me as best they could… but growing up I played in the ruins of the death machines that their generation felled, right?

• Eugene: There’s gonna be some distance between us when they’ve experienced something like that.

• Frankie: …Maybe my life is pretty easy, all things considered.

Frankie and Meredith

• Frankie: ...I just don’t know, Meredith. If I leave New Wirral, I’m going to have to get a job and all that boring stuff.

• Meredith: You’re just a kid, right? You’ve got some time left before you hit the mundanities of adulthood.

• Frankie: I’m eighteen! I don’t think you’re that much older than me!

• Meredith: Oh. I didn’t realise. I guess you have such a... youthful energy that I mistook you for younger.

• Frankie: I get that a lot!

Frankie and Felix

• Frankie: ...So if I provide you with a character description, do you think you could draw them for me?

• Felix: Sure! Just tell me what your character looks like, and I’ll get back to you with it.

• Frankie: OK, they’re like, imagine a werewolf, but wearing a business suit. No wait, it’s more like a tuxedo... And his fur colour is-

• Felix: Uh, how about you write down some notes for me instead?

Frankie and Viola

• Frankie: ...I guess I read a lot about romance for someone who has no interest in it myself.

• Frankie: Is that weird?

• Viola: I see what troubles you, dear Frankie. You ask if there is a contradiction in your passion for romantic and lustful prose, despite your own reluctance to partake in such dramas yourself?

• Frankie: ...I guess so...?

• Viola: If you wish to know my thoughts; I would say that you need not worry. Perhaps your heart’s desires shall change as you age, perhaps not.

• Viola: Enjoy the things you love, and love those around you in the way that pleases you most. This is a fine way to live one’s life, I believe.

• Frankie: Viola you are SO cool, do you know that?!

• Viola: I’m hearing such reports as of late!

Frankie and Sunny

• Frankie: ...So even though I didn’t know New Wirral existed before coming here, in some way I’ve been preparing for this kind of thing happening to me my whole life!

• Sunny: I see... because you read many fantasy stories… and write your own, if I am understanding right...?

• Frankie: Yes! Though the specific details with cassette tapes is a new twist, people love stories about friendships between monsters and humans - especially if there’s romance, too.

• Sunny: They do...? Is that why you are excited to be here - to be romanced by a monster?

• Frankie: What, m-me? No, I’m strictly an observer.

• Frankie: What's going on? Maybe I shouldn't overthink it - time for an awesome fight!

• Frankie: Alright, partner! I'll take charge and you assist me - we'll win, no problem!

• Frankie: Gotcha! Oh man, I'm so excited!
